Use it Again! logbook - Episode 6
2022-04-22
March 2022 - A new start under Extia’s colors
On March 15th, the Use It Again! left Ushuaïa to continue its westabout round-the-world trip... With a few extra touches of orange 😉
After the failure of the record attempt, Extia decided to reinforce its support for Romain Pilliard's project by becoming the project's title Sponsor, renaming Romain Pilliard's trimaran Use It Again! by Extia.
The goal is to continue to carry the skipper's resilient values while accompanying him on his new departure and supporting him in promoting circular economy and raising awareness about ocean protection. This new project includes three stops within 100 days: first in Polynesia, then in South Africa before returning to Lorient to complete the westabout round the world trip. These different stages will enable Romain Pilliard to meet with NGOs involved in environmental protection and to continue to raise awareness on the importance of a circular and rational economic model.
The scientific dimension of this project has not been forgotten: the first sound mapping of the ocean is still underway and an additional underwater camera has been installed during the boat's repair in order to gather as much data as possible.
For the first leg between Ushuaïa and Papeete, Romain Pilliard was accompanied by a new teammate, Christophe Colaris, who was one of the first people to assist Romain in the repair of the trimaran. The two skippers seemed to form a very good team!
See you soon for the next stage of this westabout round the world trip in French Polynesia!
