What is Use it Again!
The Use it Again! project began when Romain Pilliard, accompanied by his wife Aurélie, decided to recover Hélène MacArthur's old trimaran with which she broke the solo round-theworld record in 2005. After six years of neglect, the discovery of this legendary trimaran gave rise to three major challenges:
An ecological challenge: Romain took the gamble of renovating this boat by applying the principles of the circular economy: reduce, reuse and recycle. By pushing his suppliers to provide him with reconditioned materials and by recovering pieces of sail from his colleagues who no longer wanted them, he succeeded in giving a second life to his trimaran while respecting the environment.
A sporting challenge: to sail around the world upside down and thus prove that it is possible to sail in extreme conditions with a boat that has a low impact on the environment and that takes care of the oceans.
A human challenge: through this project, Romain wishes to convey a strong message on a large scale. He wants to raise awareness about the protection of the oceans and prove that it is possible to do great things while respecting our planet.
What about Extia?
It all started with a meeting between the committed sailor Romain Pilliard and Arnaud Frey, CEO of Extia #firstwhothenwhat. Enthralled by Romain's project and the values he stands for, the collaboration was an obvious choice. By supporting the Use it Again! project, Extia wants to affirm its commitment to the circular economy. "As a major IT player, our digital footprint is obvious and we are very sensitive to it", explains Arnaud.
